This one hits home to me now as we are weeks away from meeting our first child! We had the privilege of cruising twice while I was expecting - this brought a lot of questions from our friends and family.. Is cruising safe while you are pregnant? Up until you are 23 weeks pregnant - Absolutely! In fact, cruising makes for a great baby moon destination!
You may be asking yourself... What is a babymoon? A babymoon is a relaxing vacation away taken by parents-to-be before their baby is born!
If you too are expecting, you may be asking yourself - where should I take my baby moon vacation? OR, maybe you're just here for my story. Either way, thank you for following along to hear the top reasons why I believe cruising makes for an awesome baby moon destination!
Reason #1 -- The FOOD
Easily one of my top reasons why I love cruising in general is the food. Most cruise lines offer food all day and into the night - I never had trouble finding a perfect snack while hungry on board. Have an interesting pregnancy craving? There is a very HIGH chance you'll be able to find it on board. If you are like us and enjoy eating at specialty restaurants or the main dining room for dinner, not only is the food usually high quality - you usually have a great selection from appetizers to desserts. Speaking from experience, if you are expecting and looking for the perfect baby moon destination, I assure you will never go hungry on a cruise ship!
Reason #2 -- Relaxation
No doubt, a cruise vacation makes the perfect destination for anyone and expecting mothers looking for the perfect babymoon destination. Whether you are looking for a spot on the sundeck or would prefer a cozy spot indoors, all cruise ships have many options for relaxation. During our cruise baby moon, we opted for a cabin with an extended balcony, it was the ultimate relaxing location - I spent most of our days at sea listening to the waves while laying out on our private balcony.
Reason #3 -- Entertainment
Another huge reason why cruising stole my heart is because of the entertainment offered on board! Cruise lines release daily planners that provide their daily schedule of activities. If you are new to cruising, you'll probably be surprised to see that these planners will be packed with entertainment and activities beginning early morning through the evening. Whether you are looking for a daily stretch or yoga class, watch your fellow passengers compete in a belly flop competition, go ice skating, laser tagging, or looking to watch a comedy show or musical, there is SO much to do on board. If you are an expecting mother looking for the perfect baby moon destination, cruising will provide you plenty of entertainment and activity options and also your fellow travelers can venture on their own if they want to be a bit more active than you. Activities vary by cruise line and cruise ship - when we are planning a cruise vacation, this is often an area we research ahead of time to select which sailing is best for us.
Reason #4 -- Photos!
Dalton and I usually take advantage of the photographers onboard cruise ships. We usually like to get dressed up for dinner and night time entertainment and capturing a professional photo is an added bonus. We took advantage of this on our babymoon cruise vacations and captured our baby announcement photo with a cruise photographer on board. We purchased the base photo package with our sailing, which we typically do anyways, and there were no additional costs for us to take these photos. This was a major WIN in our opinion! We also now have these photos to look back on to remember that our little boy was a cruise traveler even before his birth date!
