The newest addition to the Carnival fleet, Carnival Venezia, has arrived to NYC! The ship is also featured as this week's Nice Aft on our YouTube Channel! This new ship is certainly unique compared to all the other Carnival ships.

Carnival Corporation's Costa Venezia debuted in 2018 - the ship was originally designed for their Costa brand, intended for sailings out of Asia. The ship, inspired by Venetian design, has many elements resembling Italian landmarks and architecture.
Just last year in June 2022, Carnival Corporation announced they would be moving two sister ships from Costa Cruises over to their Carnival Cruise Line brand. These ships will be operating under a hybrid name between their two lines - "Costa by Carnival" with the slogan "Carnival Fun Italian Style".
The Carnival Venezia sailed her inaugural voyage on May 29, 2023 out of Barcelona. The inaugural sailing was a 2-week transatlantic voyage headed to NYC where the ship will call home. Once in New York City, the ship stayed in port for a 2-day celebration filled with Carnival Fun Italian Style and lots of press!
Carnival Venezia is the first ship across all cruise lines to have a Godfather named rather than a traditional Godmother. Jay Leno took the title as the first ever Godfather of a cruise ship!

We were lucky enough to be in New York City for Venezia's first US inaugural sailing out of her new homeport. The weather was perfect in New York so of course, we had to capture her departure! This ship is incredibly interesting because it really is a hybrid of both Costa Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line. When I look at the funnel, I of course am missing the signature Carnival Whale Tail. When I look at her aft, though, I'm quickly reminded of the signature Carnival style. We are excited to see what Carnival has in store for their new hybrid line "Costa by Carnival".
We plan to be back to New York City again soon to capture another sailing of this unique ship! Carnival Venezia is set to be in the Big Apple as her home port through December 2024! Not only is Carnival bringing a "New Look" to the cruising world, they are also being unique in keeping a ship in NYC through the winter in 2023. This is great news for our New York friends who want to get away during their winter blues!
We mentioned a second Costa ship migrating to the Carnival hybrid model - Carnival Firenze is expected to follow Venezia in 2024.
In addition to these Venetian-style ships, Carnival Corporation transferred their Costa Luminosa to Carnival Cruise Line in September 2022. Like the Carnival Venezia, the ship features a Costa funnel with a hybrid Costa/Carnival Livery. The Carnival Luminosa is currently sailing out of Seattle with an Alaskan itinerary as of this post.
